I hope this blog will lead me to the girl of my dreams.  I was strolling through town last weekend and I stopped in a health store to see what they had in the way of natural bodybuilding supplements.  I was immediately distracted though, by the girl behind the counter.  She had bobbed brown hair and was wearing a Weezer T-shirt with checkered converse shoes.  She looked up at me and smiled when I walked in and I was hooked.  The store is fairly small but there were a few other customers there that day.  The girl was busy helping out some huge guy with a muscle bulging from every part of his body.  I cruised closer just to hear her voice and was floored by all the scientific phrases and explanations she was throwing out about creatine and anabolic steroids.  To find a pretty girl is one thing, but to find a pretty intelligent girl is another.  She helped out this body builder for a good 20 minutes while I pretended to look through pamphlets on weight lifting.  I kept thinking of something to ask her that wouldn’t make me sound like an idiot.  While I fussed around picking up bottle after bottle to read the labels, I looked up to find she had gone.  An older guy was standing behind the counter and the girl was no where to be seen.  Realizing I had missed my chance that day, I went back everyday for the next week.  Finally I asked the older clerk about her and he told me that Saturday was her last day.  Now I’ll probably never find her!  Does anyone know the store I’m talking about located right on Main Street, and more importantly, do you know this girl?  Please get in touch and help me out because I feel I have missed out on a great thing.

So it is finally time to put my university diploma into its very special university diploma frame. My dad gave me this frame and I have been putting off and putting off actually putting the diploma into the frame. I suppose that seems strange, especially since I think the frame is very special. But my dad died the day after my graduation from college so it has kind of a strange association for me. I guess I feel like when I actually put my diploma into the frame it will be like a certain sort of closure to the whole thing, a thing that I have been dealing with for the past ten years. I have missed him so much, and it has been very hard having him be gone like this, especially taken so abruptly and in a time that was supposed to be so happy. But I guess that is what car crashes are like.            

But now that it is ten years later and I have my own kids I think it is time that I have that closure that I have not had for so many long years. I am ready for it. I am ready to put that piece of paper into that piece of wood and glass and appreciate it for what it is and was to me.

When I got married, I had no problem coming up with my bridesmaids’ gifts.  I knew that each of the girls would love a hand painted picture frame and scented candle, so I did up little gift boxes for them.  My husband, on the other hand, didn’t have a clue what to get the guys.  Finally, two week before the wedding, I decided that if they were going to get any kind of attendants’ gift, I was going to have to get it.

I started searching for different gift baskets for men, thinking that there was no reason I had to get them all the same thing.  I finally found a great website that had all kinds of baskets for men, including golf gift baskets, which was great, because two of the guys were avid golfers.  The third guy didn’t golf at all and I was going to get him a different gift basket, but then I thought, why can’t I get him a golf gift basket, too?  I simply added a coupon for club rentals from the local golf course.

The guys loved the baskets and even all went together the day before the wedding and hit the greens.
