Questions to Ask About Franchise Opportunities

You’ve found a great franchise business for sale. You’ve secured the loan that will allow you to make this investment. You’ve notified your current place of business that you’ll be leaving to start your own franchise store. You’re ready to work.

But there are some questions that you should ask about franchise opportunities before you sign on the dotted line. Here are some of the questions that you’ll want to ask the franchise owner:

  • How much will the franchise cost me?
  • What are the limitations on me when operating this franchise?
  • What kind of help will I get for setting up the franchise?
  • How much ongoing help will I receive regarding this investment?
  • What is the turnover rate of franchisees?
  • What is your plan for growth of the franchise?
  • What expectations do you have of me?

In addition to asking questions of the franchise owner, you should speak with other franchisees about their experiences. For example, if you’re starting a ShipOnSite store then you’ll want to speak to other people who own ShipOnSite stores throughout the nation. This can give you a lot of insight into what running these stores is really like so you can be confident in your decision to start one.
