Ashamed of My Successful Children
By Store in Finance | 0 comments
I do not understand young people these days. My children are all very successful, and though they have worked very hard for their success, it seems to me like they have no humility about it. They all have huge houses and fancy cars and it seems to me as though they all need to stay one step ahead of the Joneses.
All my son talks about anymore is his new set of Lexus wheels and how rich they make him look. I shake my head in disbelief, knowing that I raised him better than that. We were well off when the kids were growing up, but I was more than happy with my VW wheels. I was never a showy type and am still not to this day.
The worst part of the whole situation is that my children seem to be competing with each other as to who has the bigger and better stuff. My daughter brags that her 350Z wheels on her Mustang are better than his, so he goes out and buys a new set. I honestly do not know who these monsters are that used to be my children.
For the most part, I try to stay out of it, as they really do not care what I have to say. I just hope that one day they realize that you can’t take it with you and that relationships are more important than all the money in the world.
