Advanced Link Building Targets Attention from High Quality Sites

When you first start out trying to increase link popularity, you just want to start getting links to your site from anywhere that you can. These links assist you in building up some contacts in the web world and increasing the credibility of your site. However, link popularity isn’t just about quantity. Sure, it’s important to have a lot of people linking to your site. But it’s more important that you’re getting some quality links from highly credible sources.
An advanced link building campaign is focused less on increasing the number of links that you get and more on making sure that those links are of high quality. The underlying philosophy is that it’s better to have one link from a source like Wikipedia or About.com than it is to have three links from the blog that Joe Schmoe updates once a month. This isn’t to say that you ignore quantity of links. Your plan should include measurable growth of number of links to your site. But you shouldn’t be concerned about growth alone when quality is also an important factor.
Getting high quality links serves two purposes. First, it looks better to search engines if you get a one-way link from a site with a high page ranking. And second, better sites get more traffic which means there are more people who are likely to click that link and land on your site.
