Many women across the world have lower back tattoos which they love. Unfortunately many men believe certain myths about what these tattoos mean about the women who wear them. Just like you can’t make a sweeping judgment about the personality of someone who has tattoos in general, you can’t make an accurate judgment about someone based solely on the fact that she has a tattoo on her lower back.

There are several variations on the myth that men have spread about women with these tattoos but they all boil down to the same basic thing. These men say that a woman who has put that "target" on her back is showing the world that she’s sexually available. They believe that it’s a symbol of her wild nature and they often take it as a sign that they can pursue her aggressively.

For some women, that may be the case. But there are many women who have heart tattoos and butterfly tattoos on their lower backs simply because they like the way they look. A woman shouldn’t be deterred from getting one of these tattoos because of the prevalence of this myth. In fact, she should go ahead and get it and wear it proudly as a sign to the world that all different types of women with all different sorts of intentions may be the bearer of such a tattoo. It’s your body after all!
